Using Tinker
Updates and channels
How Tinker keeps addons current, and how to choose Stable, Beta or Alpha files for each one.
Channels
Each addon has a channel, which sets the newest kind of file that it updates to:
| Channel | Updates to |
|---|---|
| Stable | Release files only |
| Beta | Beta and release files |
| Alpha | Every file, alpha builds included |
Change an addon's channel with the pill next to it in My Addons. New addons start on the channel in Settings → Updates → Channel for new addons, which is Stable unless you change it.
Automatic updates
With Update addons automatically on in Settings, Tinker checks for updates when it opens and every hour, and installs them. It skips any addon whose files you changed by hand, which My Addons marks as Edited, so your edits are safe.
Update by hand
- Check for updates at the top of My Addons scans your AddOns folder and asks CurseForge for newer files. Its label shows when it last checked.
- Update next to an addon installs its newest file.
- Update all installs every update, edited addons included.
The number next to My Addons in the sidebar counts the updates that are waiting.
