Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting for Tinker on macOS, Windows and Linux: opening the app, finding your game, addons that don't update, and links.
macOS can't open Tinker
If macOS says it can't check Tinker for malicious software, open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to Security, and choose Open Anyway next to the message about Tinker. You only need to do this once.
Tinker doesn't open on Windows 10
Install the WebView2 Runtime from Microsoft, then open Tinker again. Windows 11 includes it.
The window is blank or doesn't open on Linux
Tinker needs GTK 3 and WebKitGTK 4.1. The .deb installs them. With the .tar.gz, install them from your package manager, such as libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0 on Debian or Ubuntu, or webkit2gtk-4.1 on Arch.
Tinker didn't find my game
Choose Add game folder… in the switcher at the top of the sidebar, and pick your World of Warcraft folder. See Find your game.
An addon shows under “Not from CurseForge”
Tinker couldn't match that folder to a file on CurseForge. This happens for your own addons, addons from other sites, and files you edited before Tinker first saw them. To let Tinker manage it, find the addon in Browse and choose Install: Tinker replaces the folder with the CurseForge file.
An addon stopped updating
If My Addons marks it Edited, its files differ from the CurseForge file, so automatic updates skip it. Choose Update to replace your changes with the newest file. Also check its channel: an addon on Stable never updates to a beta file.
Links don't open Tinker
Open Tinker once. It claims tinker:// and CurseForge's install links each time it starts.
Two computers disagree
When two computers changed the same addon before they synced, the version in the sync folder wins. Choose Sync now in Settings → Sync between computers to sync right away.
