FAQ
Short answers about what Tinker is, what it does with your addons and data, and how it works with the CurseForge app.
Is Tinker made by CurseForge or Blizzard?
No. Tinker is an independent app. It uses CurseForge's public addon catalog, and it is not affiliated with CurseForge, Overwolf or Blizzard Entertainment.
Do I need a CurseForge account?
No. Browsing, installing and updating need no account. Sign in only if you want Tinker to keep your CurseForge sync groups current for the official app on other computers.
Will Tinker touch addons I installed by hand?
No. Folders that Tinker can't match to a CurseForge addon stay exactly as they are. Tinker lists them under “Not from CurseForge” so you know it saw them.
Can I keep the CurseForge app installed?
Yes. Both apps read the same AddOns folder. Tinker becomes the app that opens CurseForge's install links.
Why is Tinker so much smaller?
The CurseForge app ships its own copy of a web browser, the Overwolf runtime, and support for many games. Tinker draws its window with the web view that your system already has, and it only knows World of Warcraft.
Does Tinker collect data about me?
No. Tinker has no analytics and no tracking. It talks to CurseForge to search and download addons, and to the sign-in and sync services you choose.
Which games does Tinker support?
World of Warcraft only, in every flavor: Retail, Classic Era, Anniversary, Mists Classic, Titan Reforged, Forever, and the PTR and Beta clients.
Does Tinker support WeakAuras from Wago?
No. Tinker installs addons from CurseForge. WeakAuras the addon is on CurseForge, so Tinker can install and update it, but not the auras that you import from Wago.
